Protective Coatings

Protective coatings are thin films applied to surfaces to guard against wear, damage, rust, UV rays, and chemicals. Available in forms like wet sprays and made from materials such as plastics, ceramics, and metals, they not only can enhance an object's appearance but primarily act as a shield against environmental conditions, preserving the original form and function of the surface.

Each project has unique needs, and at DCS, we understand this. We work closely with our clients to determine the exact type of coating required. This could be a pre-designed coating system provided by the client or a custom coating system developed by us. Factors like the material of the item, its usage environment, and the required level of protection are taken into account when determining the most suitable coating solution.

The primer application step is crucial when applying protective coatings. Consider it as the base layer that ensures everything else sticks properly. This initial primer layer enhances the overall durability of the coating.

Various primers serve different purposes, whether water-based or composed of other compounds. Their main goal is to offer a strong foundation for the coating, enhancing adhesion and masking minor defects. Essentially, a quality primer is pivotal for an effective protective finish.

The Finish Coat, the last step in the protective coatings process, offers both aesthetic appeal with varied colours and finishes and serves as the primary defence against environmental factors. It bolsters the corrosion protection of underlying materials, ensuring their lasting durability. Applying it demands particular techniques for even coverage, often involving multiple layers with drying periods in between.
